Students may be identified as gifted and talented through universal screening (9th and 10th graders) or through nomination/referral from a family member, educator, or peer. Please note they must meet the criteria and be able to demonstrate their abilities in one of the five areas as defined by state statute: "...evidence of high performance capability in intellectual, creative, artistic, leadership, or specific academic areas and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided in a regular school program in order to fully develop such capabilities. (Wisconsin Statutes § 118.35)
